He is currently gaining universal acclaim for his entailment of the struggle that faces Somali’s and other Africans a like. Check out the little shoutout he gave us when he was in Amsterdam.

FILLING PIECES PROJECT: 2010 COLLECTION Preview

The new collection of Guillaume Phillibert’s Filling Pieces is dropping soon. Enough reason for Red McLeod to do a short interview with him. When I first met Guillaume a couple of years ago, he told me that he wanted to design shoes that are sporty, classy and chic at the same time. I think he did pretty well.

*Please note that getting your hands on a pair of these kicks is tricky business. But if your feeling lucky and want to be part of the Filling Pieces family, check out Acht Amsterdam or the Gorrili Rotterdam concept store for your size. For the Parisians check out RZOstore or Black Rainbow as soon as the new collection drops.

Check out the video Red McLeod made in the 8sneakers store in Amsterdam.

L’Afrique Som Systeme X PXA Pigalle Party

After a succesfull set at the PXA B’Ball tournament in Amsterdam, L’Afrique Som Systeme was invited to spin some tracks at the PXA B’Ball tournament and party in Paris, people enjoyed our “warming up” set at the tournament and expectations where high for the party, as a result L’Afrique Som Systeme met does expectations and totally destroyed the party. Premiere Gauo by Magic System turned the crowd wild, people were pounding on their chest while shouting along with the lyrics like there life depended on it. Any old school hiphop track was met by the fiercest pits and any African tune was met by the craziest most awesomest dances. The party had reached a legendary status when the whole crowd started screaming L’Afrique Som Systeme at the same time the music stopped. #ParisChapterdeux ended on high. A Major Big up to the PXA/Pain O’ Chokolat crew, Berlin fam Blackrainbow fam, Merystache fam, and Montaignstreet fam for this crazy weekend. La famille de la classe!

One thing is certained, the French really know how to party!

Blackrainbow Paris’ Brunch

On the last day of our #Parischapterdeux the good folks of Blackrainbow invited us and a bunch of cool people to have some brunch at their store. This is the same store that will carry Amsterdam’s own Filling Pieces from next season on.
The Blackrainbow brunch was the perfect place to recover from the crazy Pigalle party from the night before.

Thanks a bunch Paris. You have been lovely.

Pigalle B’Ball Tournament A.K.A PXA Paris

Do you remember that not too long ago we blogged about the PXA in Amsterdam? That crazy basketball tournament with teams from Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin? Well, last weekend Blackrainbow and Pigalle hosted the Paris edition of the tournament. Teams such as Roucreation, Main de fer, Gants de velours, Le closet, Pigalle, BKRW, SOTO/MADE (Berlin),  RBF(Amsterdam), CANDY and Colette competed against each other on the Pigalle home court.
The mens team of Pigalle and the ladies team of  Le Closet won the tournament this time. The next PXA will be held in Berlin during the first week of September. I could bet a lot of money that we will be there.

L’ Afrique Som Systeme X Sport & Street BBQ at Hedi

L’Afrique Som System got to spin some tracks with the boys from Pigalle, SFFRMKRS and the Flexican. All of us absolutely killed it and it got to the point that six riot vans were cotching in front of the garden where the party was and threatened to shut it down. We continued much to their annoyance and they gave us a last warning before they would beat us to pulp. But as true heros, everyone kept on partying until the Polizei really got their mean faces on. The Party was epic the whole experience was enormous, next stop Paris for another PXA chapter

BBBerlin Chapter

Our second Daily Paper trip led us to Berlin. We arrived on the 7th and stayed untill the 10th of July. During those days we had a very special tour guide, the lovely Toyah Siegel guided us through the streets of Berlin.
Together with our Green Paper Boys fam we visited the Bread & Butter fair in this great city. We made some new contacts and gained allot of inspiration during the fair.
Futher more L’ Afrique Som Systeme crashed the official Bread & Butter party, more about that in the next post ”Sport & Street BBQ at Hedi”.
